Abdur Razzak, Religious Affairs Secretary of Bagmara Taherpur Municipal Awami League, Rajshahi, wished paradise to the assassins of Bangabandhu in the munajat on the occasion of Victory Day.
He was released from the party on Friday after widespread criticism over the issue. Abdur Razzak himself has confirmed the matter.
"I am a child of an Awami family," he said. Awami has been involved in politics for 40 years. I am 80 now. I am a strong diabetic. I am receiving treatment from Natore Diabetes Center. I woke up at 1 am and was asked to pray. I pray at big events of Awami League. There has never been a mistake in my life. But on that day, the word came out of my mouth without my knowledge. 'Abdur Razzak apologized to everyone, including the Prime Minister.
Mayor of Taherpur Municipal Council and President of Municipal Awami League Abul Kalam Azad, General Secretary Abu Bakkar Mansur Rahman Mridha, Panel Mayor Babul Khan, Joint General Secretary Mahabur Rahman Biplob and others took part in the prayer. Abul Kalam Azad, mayor of Taherpur, said on his mobile phone, "If you had heard the prayer, you would have understood that it was a slip of mouth." Even then, he was released from the team.
