He said he was taken to Dhaka in an ambulance around 2am on Thursday. Later, when Sheikh Hasina was admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, she was taken to the operation theater at night. But the doctors failed to cut off the penis. However, he has been kept under close observation.

It is learned that SI Iftekhar Al Amin was in charge of Malopara police outpost in Rajshahi city. He joined the service as Sub-Inspector (SI) in 2010. His village home is Sirajganj. His wife Rupshi Dewan's father's house is in Munshiganj. They live in a rented house in Sagarpara area of ​​Rajshahi city.

According to police and case sources, Iftekhar was asleep at home around 4:15 pm last Thursday. At this time, the wife cut off his penis with a knife and hid it in the garbage basket under the bed. Upon receiving the news, the police rescued Iftekhar and took him to the hospital where he underwent surgery in the evening. However, on the advice of a doctor, he was taken to Dhaka by ambulance at around 2 am.

Meanwhile, Rupshi Dewan, wife of Iftekhar Al Amin, confessed to the police that her husband had been cut off. He also took out a fragment of the penis. He told the police that he did this out of anger at having a love affair with other women. He (Rupshi) was arrested soon after the incident, police said.

Nibaran Chandra Barman, OC of Boalia Model Police Station in Rajshahi, said Iftekhar's wife alleged that her husband had an affair with other women. In this anger she cut off her husband's penis.

Asked why no complaint had been lodged with the police before, Rupshi Dewan said her husband was a 'magician'! He cannot be caught. No one will believe such a complaint. But he had no choice. He was forced to do so.

OC Nibaran further said that a case of attempted murder has been registered against the wife of SI Iftekhar Al Amin in the incident. Iftekhar's father filed the case with Boalia police station on Thursday night. The accused was sent to jail through the court on Friday morning showing his arrest in the case
