Guinness World Records: 8-metre tall champagne glass pyramid breaks record in Dubai

 To ring in the New Year, Atlantis, The Palm and Moët & Chandon gathered to break a new world record.

They created the world’s largest drinking glass pyramid at the Maison’s star-studded Effervescence event series at WHITE Beach, Atlantis, The Palm.

The pyramid featured a whopping 54,740 champagne glasses and was over 8.23 metres (27 ft) tall.

It took a team of people 55 hours, spread over five days, to create the structure.

The record-breaking attempt was part of Moët & Chandon’s Effervescence celebrations, a series of soirées set up in over 20 cities, including London, Hong Kong, Toronto, Moscow, Johannesburg and Mexico City throughout 2021/22.

UAE celebrities and VIPs were invited to sip champagne throughout the night on the sandy shores of WHITE Beach club as well as experience musical performances and other entertainment.

Before announcing the record, ballerinas decorated in glitter and gold twirled around the 8.23-metre pyramid following the ceremonious pouring.

Laurent Dominguez, General Manager, Moët Hennessy Middle-East, also spoke about the achievement stating; "A symbol of celebration and generosity, Champagne Pyramids are deeply-rooted in Maison history and DNA. we are thrilled to perpetuate this heritage and create a new milestone with this daring attempt."

The glass pyramid remained in place until 1 January 2022 for the resort’s annual New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner. 

All the glasses were then recycled by a local glassblower and transformed into refillable glassware for Atlantis, The Palm.

Dubai holds multiple astonishing records, here are a few more:
