Alibaba will hire 15,000 workers instead of layoffs

China's largest e-commerce company Alibaba Group Holding Limited plans to hire 15,000 new employees this year. Alibaba announced plans to hire new employees last Thursday, rejecting rumors of 20 percent layoffs of the company that spread on Chinese social media recently.
According to a post on Alibaba's official Weibo account, more than 3,000 graduate students will be hired out of 15,000 new hires.
The post also said that geniuses are doing everything. Talents come and go at Alibaba. The matter is proceeding normally.
However, a source familiar with the matter said last Tuesday that Alibaba's cloud unit has started laying off workers. This will affect 7 percent of workers.
