Jamaat leader Delawar Hussain Saeedi, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in a case of crimes against humanity, has died (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raziun). He died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSSMU) in the capital after suffering from a heart attack at 8:40 pm on Monday night.
BSMMU Director Brigadier General Dr. Md. Rezaur Rahman confirmed this information to the media on Monday night. On the other hand, Masood Saidi, the son of Delaware Hossain Saidi, also confirmed the matter in a Facebook post.
Earlier on Sunday afternoon, he fell ill with chest pain and was taken by ambulance from Kashimpur Jail to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur. Later he was sent to BSSMU from there for better treatment.
On February 17, 2018, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court sentenced Delaware Hossain Saeedi to life imprisonment for crimes against humanity.
